Dr. Mike Jones

Who’s coming in the name of the Lord: Jesus or the Mahdi?

Q: Dr. Mike, thanks for leading the Saturday Conference Call ‘Revelation Group’ that stretched from the East Coast to the West Coast. Will you consider sharing some of the terminologies and events of the End Time?

A: From the heart, thanks for the weekly fellowship: I’ve thought about doing a seven part Q&A to answer some of the questions that came as a result of teaching the Book of Revelation for the past several years.

(Part One) Who’s coming in the name of the Lord: Jesus or the Mahdi?

Since Islam mimics a great deal of what happens in Judaism and Christianity, it’s not surprising that their Messianic Redeemer (The Mahdi – The Guided One) will be similar to ours.

Their Messiah (The Mahdi), like ours (The Christ) will be responsible for leading a global revolution and will eventually establish a New World Order (political and religious), called the Islamic Empire.

In Islamic doctrine, Muslims do give honor to Jesus (The Christ) as a ‘Messiah’ that will arrive here on earth at the exact same time as their Mahdi will (in Israel), but will only serve in the capacity of ‘ASSISTANT’ to the Mahdi, who (himself) will rule over the earth for the ‘Seven Year Tribulation Period,’ afterwards, the Day of Judgment will take place for those dwelling on the earth.

Other similarities exist: like the biblical view of the Antichrist, the Mahdi will attempt to ‘FORCE’ all non-Muslims to convert to Islam, (especially Jews and non-Christians). For the Word of God said in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4, “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

We’re beginning to see a greater ‘falling away’ in various areas of Christendom, not only away from the local church, but in their beliefs system. In December 2015, Wheaton College, an Evangelical Christian Liberal Arts School Professor (Dr. Larycia Hawkins), stirred up some debate, when she, in an effort to show solidarity with Muslims, decided to wear a hijab during advent, and declared in a statement she made about the relationship between Islam and Christianity, “I stand in religious solidarity with Muslims because they, like me, a Christian, are people of the book. And as Pope Francis (Wednesday, March 20, 2013) stated, when he received a collection of world religious leaders, we worship the same God.” Of course, the school immediately suspended her!

As stated earlier, Muslims acknowledge Jesus as an honored prophet, but deny He’s the Son of God.

In conclusion: the biblical Antichrist and the Islamic Mahdi characteristics run parallel to each other! And they’re nothing like our savior, the Lord, Jesus, who, according to sacred Scripture, will one day return for His Bride (the Church) and later return to earth, with His Bride, for a honeymoon that will last for a thousand years (the Millennium).
