Apostle Paul reveals to us that the first priority of a Christian assembly is prayer. The highest form of prayer is intercession. To intercede means literally “to come in between.” The intercessor is the one who comes in between God and those who deserve His just wrath and punishments. It’s as if you, the intercessor, is saying, “Lord, you know that you have every right in your holiness to punish them, but if you punish them, you will have to punish me first, because I’m standing right smack in between you and them.”
