SHEEP IN THE MIDST OF WOLVES!
Our Lord made a statement that must have had the disciples scratching their heads. “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves.” What a weird statement, because the shepherd tries to keep his sheep as far away from the wolves, as possible. Jesus, known as the good Shepherd, who deliberately sends his sheep out into the midst of wolves. He knows what he’s doing; he wants us there!
Knowing that there’s danger, so, what’s our protection: It is our realization that we’re in constant danger, but we’re safe as long as we remain in view of the Good Shepherd. (Saints) the inwards strength the Shepherd gives is sufficient to overcome the outward threat of the wolves.
Jesus said, “As the Father has sent Me, even so I am sending you into the world.” How was Jesus sent? As a lamb amongst wolves: and the wolves did everything in their power to devour the Lamb of God, but He triumphed over them.
Listen to Jesus’ prayer for His disciples.” I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil one.” (Saints) remember, the Pharisees criticized Him for hanging out with publicans and sinners, and their sinful ways never rubbed off on Him, but He heavily influenced them.
