4 Misconceptions About God’s Will – Part One!

By: Dr. Mike Jones

I’m sure that you, like Me, are seeing our brothers & sisters being deceived about the Will of God! In this 2 part teaching series, we will look (at) and analyze 4 misconceptions.

1.  You can not assume that every open door represents God’s will. Some open doors may actually be snares of Satan to keep you out of God’s will. Even when Satan opens a door that’s meant to bring you harm, God can bring good from it, if you will be sensitive to the leading of the Spirit. “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now it’s in the world.”(1 John 4:1-3)

2.  It’s OK to put out a fleece like Gideon did (Judges 6) to help you determine God’s will for your life. Simply stated, you must realize that faith doesn’t permit you to test God because He can not be tempted and He’s true to His Word. YOU must believe God without insisting on a sign. The Word declares, “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth He any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” (James 1:13, 14); “Seek ye the LORD while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. For My thoughts [are] not your thoughts, neither [are] your ways My ways, saith the LORD. For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall My Word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:6-11);And “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where [is] the wise? where[is] the scribe? where [is] the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a sumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks,

Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” (1 Corinthians 18-25).
